The Cozy Fleece

After being diagnosed I took my work home and started working remotely. My team supported me during this time visiting every so often and giving me support on days I would pop into the office.  On a good day, I decided to take a walk into the office to see my team and check in. Each time I went in, I was surprised with a little something to support my journey. On this particular day, I opened what would be one of the most amazing items I would be gifted while going through chemo. The lime green fleece Chemo Cozy.  It was not only what kept me warm while I sat in the cold infusion room, but it was the talk of all the nurses in the clinic.  No one had ever seen this jacket before. They were excited to hear how I found it to share with other patients.

Just like a baby feels comfort from their blanket this is my was my comfort blanket during my infusion!

I want to be a Chemo Cozy Champion and share my love and the message of Chemo Cozy. This amazing company was founded by husband and wife team who “ realized there was a need for more accessible and comfortable clothing specifically designed to provide patients a better experience during their treatments.”  I am grateful for this jacket as I am someone who runs cold so I was always bundled up with blankets that would cover up the port. When it was time to be poked with the IV through the port I had to move the blankets bringing me the chills. The jacket allows for me to stay warm and have the nurse access my port from a zippered opening. Also the jacket became a portable blanket when I had to get up and walk to the bathroom which happened often.

The jacket is made to accommodate single or dual ports on both the right and left sides as well as PICC lines on either side. It has 3 pockets one on each side near the waist line (like most zip-up fleeces) and one additional pocket close to one of the port access sites. It was nice to have these extra pockets to keep my phone, some tissues and my chapstick near by.

Thank you Chemo Cozy for keeping me cozy and warm!
